The Point of a Wiki

The whole point of a wiki is so that anyone can add what they want to the page. When using it in a classroom, students can add their research to the page to teach students about a specific area in their learning such as mathematics.

The types of tools that are available are inserting a photo, link words or photos to a website or file, and add a comment to a photo. Photo's can be inserted into the wiki by clicking on the 'file' tool and then 'upload file' when the window pops up. This photo that has been uploaded or a certain word can be linked by clicking on the 'link' tool. They can be linked to either an external source from the wiki or with in the wiki. Afterwards, the photo can have a comment added to the side by clicking on the speech bubble button and then add the comment.

I decided to write up a sample of a wiki of how I can use it in the classroom by using the topic of 3D shapes. Students can have all the information in front of them at home so that they can continue to refer to it if they ever have problems with the topic. You can look at my wikispace by clicking on the following link: http://technology-r-go.wikispaces.com/
